The Hon. Michelle Rowland MP Minister for Communications

PIJI welcomes the appointment of The Hon. Michelle Rowland MP as Minister for Communications. PIJI looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Minister moving forward.

“Minister Rowland brings a deep understanding of the industry, having held the Shadow Communications Portfolio for a number of years,” said PIJI Chair Prof Allan Fels AO.

“PIJI will continue to provide core industry data and research-driven policy solutions to both the industry and government.

“We look forward to working closely with Minister Rowland – and all members of Parliament, including independents – to ensure industry sustainability and viability for years to come, given public interest journalism’s role as an essential component of our democracy.”

PIJI also extends its gratitude to former Minister for Communications Paul Fletcher MP for his work in the portfolio throughout what was a particularly tumultuous time for news producers.
